More About Me

I’ve been a member of the Conservative party for many years but it wasn’t until I went to University did I pursue a more active role in party politics.

In 2007 I stood in the Council elections that finally saw the Conservatives take control of Loughborough Charnwood. I’m also the Conservative spokesperson in Shelthorpe. This is a role I take very seriously as I tackle the issues and concerns of the residents in and around the borough.

I’m currently the Chairman of Loughborough Conservative Future, which has grown into the largest political group within Loughborough University. This again is a fulfilling and worthwhile position as Loughborough is a key seat to be won in the next General Election.

Throughout my time at school and University I’ve been dedicated to raising money for charity, particularly in Southern Africa. I’ve always had a particular interest in African History and Politics. It is this interest that inspired me to organise a trip in the summer of 2008, to go to Africa and work for numerous charities raising both money and their profile. At home I’ve continued my Charity work, particularly for the homeless and ‘Cancer Research’, two charities that lie close to my heart.

Is it time for change….

It seems every election, regardless of size and type, is nowadays dominated by the usual contentious issues. Today the CF is in two minds over the ‘so called’ North South divide and the unfairness that is associated with it. It is now however time that we begin some universal soul searching. Do we give in to these radicals or forever cling to the security of the ‘statues quo’? Whatever way we look at it it’s a daunting task that lies ahead, but for me, my mind has been made up.  It’s been over ten long years since the Conservatives were in power, three elections that have left us with the bitter taste of defeat. However it was ‘change’ in the form of David Cameron that has stopped the party rot that threatened to bring us, the Conservatives, down. It is now time to filter this success down to Conservative Future, which has been superbly led over the past few years. It is these successes that should be built on over the next few months to make the CF a real asset to the party.

Get serious!

Representation

Representation

Representation

The North of England, Wales and Scotland have never felt particular love for the Conservative Party; it’s specifically seen as unrepresentative and too focused on the welfare of those in the south. We need an inclusive CF that reaches out to all areas of the country, especially if we’re serious about making any substantial gains in the next election. This diversity on the NME would truly reflect the needs of the country and our determination for change. It would also present the Conservatives as the real ‘alternative’ to Labour in the North and sweep away the image of Southern exclusivity.  I’m a real supporter of ‘A Conservative Future for Britain’ practically as they make steps to highlight this important issue. It’s about time we looked at the representation of the CF and came up with some answers to the Conservative/North problem.

However unpopular it maybe!
